The circumstances of one’s birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
Can I go back to the days when I was five and nothing big mattered
Where the biggest thing that mattered was the giant paint splatter
A paint splatter I got from finger painting the turkey for mom on Thanksgiving.
Back in the days when no matter what social class you were in, everyone was giving.
Whether it was a few bucks or just a helping hand, they were able to get back on their feet and stand.
Can I go back to the days when I was six and I just started school.
Back when the spiderman wrist watches were the things that were cool.
When a girlfriend or boyfriend were nonexistent, because they had cooties.
Back before all guys cared about was a nice chest and a real fat booty.
When 10 year old girls weren’t showing more skin than a 20 year old, and back when children actually did what they were told.
But these days don’t exist anymore, and just thinking about all the problems I have now make my brain sore.
Because all the problems I have now, I didn’t have back when I was five, or even six.
The problems I had back then, were ones that I could actually fix.
But everything is completely different now, and to be completely honest, I couldn’t tell you how.
How any of this happened in just a matter of years.
I’m sure the older generations are disappointed, hell I’m sure they’ve even shed some tears.
But the worst part of it all, well, that’s up for you to decide.
Cause honestly, just looking at this mess makes me want to hide.
Hiding in the back with my gameboy in my hand, where I’m just in my own land.
My own land back when I was five, and the world wasn’t a hard place to get by and survive.
